Dolby Access App for TVs & Dolby Access App for Gaming

Dolby Access for TVs

Dolby Access for TVs is an OTT streaming app available on Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos supported TVs; namely certain LG and Vizio models, and the majority of TCL-Roku TV models.

The app showcases the striking brights and rich nuanced colors of Dolby Vision and the object-based multi-dimensional sound of Dolby Atmos, ranging from film trailers, digital art in motion, and captivating footage of nature and landscapes.

Achievement

I launched Dolby Access on TCL Roku TVs after Dolby Access had already launched on LG. The development of the apps was outsourced to an agency and as a result, the product was haphazardly managed and cobbled together by a number of contributorsβ€”spanning departments, from engineering to creative.

I started the role by meeting with everyone individually to learn about their siloed responsibilitiesβ€”with the goal of offloading and absorbing and consolidating their duties. With a lot of moving backwards to move forward, I needed to understand each piece of the puzzle, learn how they each connected to one anotherβ€” in what orderβ€” to ultimately understand the mechanics of the Dolby Access app. This initial phase was pertinent because my role also included launching the Dolby Access for TVs app on two additional OEM TV manufacturers: TCL-Roku and Vizio.

LG TVs

In addition to regularly updating the content of the Dolby Access app on LG TVs, supported by Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, I worked with Lionbridge, an enterprise translation service, to update the Dolby Access app with 14 additional languages. I also learned to navigate and use Contentful, the headless CMS (content management system) used for Dolby Access for TVs and Dolby Access for Gaming.
